How It All Began

Mike Madsen began selling seed corn and soybeans in 2001, starting with just a few hundred bags. Over the years, the business grew into Madsen Seed, now distributing several thousand bags of seed each year. In 2016, Mike and Diana built a seed warehouse and treatment facility to meet the evolving needs of their customers. Today, Madsen Seed proudly represents two leading independent seed brands—Wyffels Hybrids® and Latham® Hi-Tech Seeds—continuing a commitment to quality, flexibility, and personalized service.

The business is supported by Mike and Diana’s sons, Andrew and Matt, who, though working off the farm full-time, assist with farming and seed needs throughout the year.

Through Madsen Seed, we have had the pleasure of connecting with farmers across the Midwest, helping our neighbors access high-quality seed at affordable prices, along with value-added treatment options and biologicals. Giving back to the community is very important to us, and we proudly support programs such as 4-H, FFA, HLO Community Education youth programs, Little League baseball, and the HLO Community Foundation.
